It’s been a wonderful start to 2017 – life changing in fact.
And little do they know it now, these past few weeks will go on to enhance my children’s lives for years to come.
It all stems from a family reunion I always hoped and believed would happen one day.
It’s not quite a long lost family tale, but after more than a decade I’ve finally been reunited with my two younger sisters.
I couldn’t be happier. A gaping wound is finally being healed.
We are making up for lost time and I can see how much they adore their niece and nephew.
The feeling is mutual. A unique and special bond has been made for life.
Which brings me to my point about it being a significant period in my children’s lives.
When you become a parent you very quickly make the transition to seeing life through your children’s eyes.
Gone are the days of thinking how a situation or decision may affect you, it’s all about the impact on them.
So whilst in the main this is very much a personal journey, I can’t help but think of the positive effect this new dynamic will have on my two kids, and particularly my daughter.
I couldn’t be more proud of the beautiful, confident young women my sisters have become, and they will serve as the perfect role models for my little girl.
I can see the similarities and traits my daughter shares with them both. I always knew they were there, but now it’s there for them to see too.
With the age gap between me and my sisters stretching more than 10 years, they are likely to be in their lives longer than I am.
They will have an important and pivotal role to play.
My children will have known no different – as far as they’re concerned their two aunties will have always been around.
To be able to be a big brother again has given me an indescribable sense of fulfilment.
To be able to give my children two wonderful aunties, and my wife two sister-in-laws who I believe will become close allies for life, is truly the icing on the cake.
How lovely to have them back in your life. Family is so important, and often we don’t realise that until it’s too late. #thatfridaylinky

So wonderful to be reunited! I think when you have children you naturally then think of the family for them as well and surrounding them with as many people who love them as possible. It’s lovely that now your children have two more loving people in their lives #PostsFromTheHeart
